The Role
We are seeking a Senior General Ledger Accountant to own the integrity of the balance sheet at a high-growth US company, working remotely from South Africa.
You will lead complex reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and control improvements across a multi-entity US reporting environment, and fix recurring reconciling items at their source rather than correcting them every month.
What You'll Own
- Balance sheet. Own high-risk balance sheet accounts, including cash, payroll, accruals, fixed assets, intercompany, and equity.
- Reconciliations. Prepare and review reconciliations, investigate aged items, and drive issues through to resolution.
- Multi-entity close. Support multi-entity close, eliminations, consolidation, and foreign currency accounting.
- Controls. Strengthen reconciliation standards, close controls, and supporting documentation.
- Audit readiness. Prepare audit schedules and respond confidently to auditor and leadership questions.
- Process improvement. Use data and system knowledge to reduce recurring reconciling items and manual entries, including where AI and automation can help.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, audit, or controllership
- US GAAP experience, or strong IFRS experience with exposure to US clients or entities
- Deep experience with reconciliations, intercompany accounting, journal entries, and root-cause investigation
- Experience with a major ERP, such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or Sage Intacct
- High attention to detail without losing sight of materiality
- Strong written and spoken English for daily work with US teams
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent professional qualification
Preferred
- CA(SA) (SAICA), ACCA, CIMA, US CPA, or equivalent (completed or in progress)
- Experience using AI tools in accounting workflows, with the judgment to review and correct AI-generated output
- Big 4 audit experience followed by industry experience
- Multi-currency or consolidation experience

Work Arrangement
This is a fully remote role with a single client company for the duration of the engagement. Full-time roles require a minimum of 4 hours of daily overlap with US Eastern Time (ET); part-time roles require a minimum of 2 hours.
