Head of Finance & Accounting

The Role

We are seeking a Head of Finance & Accounting to lead the entire finance function of a high-growth US company, working remotely from Ecuador.

This is the most senior finance seat in the business. You will own accounting, planning, cash, tax, and board and investor reporting, and be the person the CEO relies on to answer the question behind every major decision: can we afford it, and what does it do to the plan? You will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the board, investors, and every department head.

What You'll Own

Strategy and Stakeholders

• The finance function. Own accounting, FP&A, cash, and tax as one function, including its structure and hiring plan.
• Strategic partnership. Advise the CEO on pricing, hiring, investment, and the trade-off between growth and burn.
• Board, investors, and fundraising. Prepare board materials and investor updates, and lead financial preparation for equity or debt raises.

Planning and Cash

• Budget and forecast. Own the annual budget, rolling forecast, and scenario planning.
• Cash and runway. Own cash management, treasury, and runway planning.
• KPIs. Define and report the metrics that matter, such as ARR, gross margin, CAC payback, and burn multiple.

Accounting and Controls

• Accounting. Hold final accountability for the close and the financial statements under US GAAP, directly or through a Controller.
• Controls and compliance. Establish internal controls and delegation of authority, own the audit relationship, and oversee tax and entity compliance.
• Team and systems. Build and lead the accounting and FP&A team, and own the finance systems stack.

What We're Looking For

• 12+ years of finance and accounting experience, including leadership of both accounting and FP&A
• Experience as the senior finance leader, or deputy to the CFO, at a high-growth company
• Strong command of US GAAP, with the depth to review and sign off on a Controller's work
• Proven experience building budgets, forecasts, and three-statement financial models
• Direct ownership of cash management and runway planning
• Experience preparing and presenting board and investor reporting
• Strong written and spoken English, with the presence to lead a board or investor discussion
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or an equivalent professional qualification

Preferred

• Contador Público Autorizado (CPA), US CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent strongly preferred; an MBA is an advantage
• Experience using AI tools in finance workflows, with the judgment to review and correct AI-generated output
• Experience supporting or leading a fundraise, debt facility, or M&A process
• Big 4, investment banking, or consulting experience followed by in-house finance leadership
• SaaS or recurring-revenue experience
• Experience with planning tools such as Adaptive, Pigment, or Mosaic

Work Arrangement

This is a fully remote role with a single client company for the duration of the engagement. Full-time roles require a minimum of 4 hours of daily overlap with US Eastern Time (ET); part-time roles require a minimum of 2 hours.
